WE WILL ROCK YOU!

Studded handbags and jacketsLucca Couture Studded Party Dress $78 at Dillard’s, Studded Boyfriend Blazer $58 on sale at Arden B, Rachel Rachel Roy Handbag, Kat Foldover Clutch $79.00 at Macy’s, Pyramid Stud Elastic Belt $70 at Topshop, Studded Bow Headband $4.80 at Forever 21, Betsey Johnson Black Skull Ring $55 at Nordstrom, Jeffrey Campbell Potion Ankle Boots $165 at shopbop.com.

I’m all about embellished clothing put a sequin on something and I’ll buy it.  The latest trend of studded rocker embellishments has me embracing my inner punker and relishing all the ways I can bring edge to my outfits but still maintain an adult level of sophistication.

The Express wool studded blazer was my first MUST HAVE piece of the fall season.  I wear it over dresses, over skinny jeans, with plaid pants at work – love, love, love this jacket.  I’m planning to scoop up a handful of these pieces.  Studded t-shirts have a little more attitude than your average t-shirt.  I’m loving how possibly dangerous this spiky bracelet from Guess looks (I’ll be careful not to poke myself in the eye.  Topshop has a handful of studded gloves in various colors and styles – yum!  A girl can’t really sport rocker edge without some serious studded boots, and Jeffrey Campbell has been churning out  funky styles that are so loaded with embellishments that the price tag is shocking.  I wasn’t sure if I would want to try skull jewelry until I saw this chunky yet super girly glam skull ring from Betsey Johnson.

You won’t see me leaving my house without studs on me somewhere!

Steal This Star’s Style – Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron3/4-Sleeve Sateen Blazers $39.50 at Old Navy, Exposed Layer Zipper Clutch $38 at Arden B, Dollhouse Hugo Ankle Boot $58.95 at Endless.com, Abstract Print Knit Dress $59.50 at New York & Co.

This is a look any woman can and should wear – perfect polish in a flirty printed dress and boyfriend blazer.  The deep V on this New York & Co abstract print dress gives some sex appeal and the boyfriend blazer offers a little coverage and a casual vibe.  This really is a go-anywhere outfit.  You can work in this outfit.  You can go out with girlfriends in this outfit.  You can go on a date in this outfit.  Black or metallic accessories won’t compete with the print on the dress.  Keep the look funky with a hip platform shootie and a zipper edge clutch.  Best part, all of these super versatile pieces together total $195.95.

ANATOMY of MY FALL UNIFORM

Jeggings + Tunic TopsComfortZone Denim Knit Leggings $26.95 at New York & Co, Triple-ruffle Sweatshirt $29 on sale at Newport News, Naughty Monkey Kryptonite Boot $189.90 at Endless.com, Plaid Cape $128 at Ann Taylor Loft.

This look is a little English countryside chic and 100% cozy!  Let’s just say, jeggings jeggings jeggings – I can’t stop saying jeggings.  That’s jeans + leggings if you’re not already in the know or in a pair.  After shopping about for the perfect pair of skinny jeans, a friend turned me on to the jegging.  I exhausted my search possibilities and was dismayed that I was turning up either leggings that were just a denim print or if they actually had pockets and real denim styling they were $98 or more.  Then I found the New York & Co. jegging that has real back pockets, plus faux front pockets and a faux fly AND they come in three freaking colors:  a medium blue, a deeper indigo, and black.  This jegging is as comfortable as wearing a t-shirt and cost just $26.95.  Not even my most comfortable jeans felt this good.  I’ve flown in them twice.   When sporting a jegging or a legging, you really want a longer top.  I’m loving this tunic ruffle sweatshirt.  My own wardrobe really lacks stylish easy comfortable casual wear (I’m all sequins and glitz; I shop like I think I’m Lady Gaga).  When it comes to Sunday afternoon errands or meeting up with friends I never have the perfect outfit to just slip on;  this outfit really helped me to define that aspect of my wardrobe.

This look cries out for a pair of really fabulous knee high boots.  Every year I like to splurge on a pair of knee high boots that have some really special detailing and are also comfortable.  I’m loving this extra long tassel and the buckle detail on these rich chocolate Naughty Monkey boot.  To finish off the look top it with a plaid cape like this one from Ann Taylor Loft.  This is the look I’m living in right now.

ANATOMY of MY SUITCASE – GIRL’S WEEKEND IN MIAMI

Weekend in MiamiDAY:  Tropical One-Shoulder Suit $44 at Spiegel, Velvet Torch Maxi Sundress $27.90 on sale at Nordstrom, Pumpkin Tunic Cover-Up at Spiegel, Spillane Straw Fedora $28 at Urban Outfitters, BC Footwear Earthquake Thong Sandal $27 on sale at Endless.com, Raffia Bag $29.99 on sale at French Connection.

Headed to Miami this weekend with my best lady friend and here’s what the inside of my suitcase looks like.  Miami is one of those destinations where I want to be wearing outfits with bright colors, glitz, embellishments, and sex appeal, much like if I were traveling to Las Vegas.  My daytime looks are a black and white printed maxi dress and a strapless jumpsuit, accessorized with a straw fedora, raffia sandals and a raffia clutch.  The great thing about shopping for swimwear, sundresses, and sandals this time of year, is that everything is on sale.

For evening it’s all about glam with a dash of outrageous thrown in.  This gold Bebe jumpsuit does the trick wonderfully.  If I feel like being a little more elegant one night I’ll wear this gorgeous Maggy London blue abstract print dress; it reminds me of the Van Gogh painting Starry Night.  When traveling, I bring as few shoes as possible, they just take up too much room.  This Jeffrey Campbell embellished heel is SO Miami and will work perfect with both outfits.  I get compliments on this shoe everywhere I go, and surprise, it’s also very comfortable!  There will be plenty of room in my bag for extra cocktail rings, bracelets and what have you.

Sunshine & lady time, here I come!

TREND ALERT – FUR VEST

Faux Fur Vest, Rachel RoyRachel Roy Faux Fur Vest $149 at Macy’s, Faux-fur Rachel Vest $60 at Fred Flare, Du Monde Faux Fox Fur Vest with Belt $149 and Damselle Faux Lynx Fur Vest $98 both at Nordstrom.

This look is so very Rachel Zoe inspired.  Very ba-nanas, right?  Shopping for fur tends to be pricey so it’s not so cents of style, so if you’re shopping this look on a bit of a budget you’ll have to opt for faux.  You’d probably also opt for faux if you’re not so into killing vermin for fashion.  Faux furs have come a long way, but often cheap faux furs tend to look like stuffed animals.  Rachel Zoe has a line of faux fur vests on QVC that have a striking resemblance to the real thing, but they are currently sold out.  Others that are worth taking a look at include the faux fur vest by Rachel Roy for Macy’s pictured above on the left.  I’m also loving the all black styling here: tapered black pants, black platform pumps and an over sized studded fold over clutch also by Rachel Roy and available at Macy’s.  Styling tip:  fur vests tend to be bulkier items, so wear slimmer more body conscious pieces underneath!

CHRISTIAN SIRIANO, ALICE + OLIVIA, ABAETE for PAYLESS

Christian Siriano & Abaete for PaylessCHRISTIAN SIRIANO & ABAETE for PAYLESS

If you’ve been wondering if Project Runway’s most recent winner Christian Siriano’s designs for Payless would be a hot tranny mess, the moment has arrived to check them out.  Christian is hands down my favorite PR winner, and in my opinion “Most Likely To Succeed.”  I was a little surprised that one of his first outings was a partnership with Payless, but the results are kinda fierce.  The booties are totally on trend, and the teal “lizard” print is a a unique print and hot for Fall.  The clutch with rocker hardware is great for a night out or even to keep inside a larger tote.  I’m especially loving the chain embellished Saunter Flat.  I intend to shimmy over to Payless today and check them out.

Payless is also currently featuring on trend partnerships with other big name designers: Abaete and Alice + Olivia.  Check out the chain draped Antoine Bootie by Abaete in either black or gray suede – supes cute.  I’m also loving all of the Alice + Olivia boots.  The Robertson Jeweled Boot could be the frugal choice for evening looks for the rest of the season.  I’m also intrigued by the drama of the Rivoli Fan Clutch.

Note, I haven’t tried on any of these shoes & booties, so I can’t vouch for their comfort, but they all get an A for Fierceness.

FALL FASHION – IT’S HERE! WHAT I’M SHOPPING FOR RIGHT NOW

Fall Fashion - Bebe, Modcloth.com, Urban Outfitters, ExpressLeatherette Washed Moto Jacket $69 on sale, Sula Paint & Peel Nail Polish $9 Ulta Cosmetics, Poppie Jones Milla Zippered Clutch $29.95 on sale DSW, Jeffrey Campbell Slipstream Wedges $129 at ModCloth.com, Deena & Ozzy Chain Tote $58 at Urban Outfitters, Tiers to You Dress $59.99 at ModCloth.com, Editor Luxury Stretch Chocolate Plaid Pant $79.50 at Express.

Early fall has me craving neutrals like putty gray that are an alternative to black.  Bebe has leatherette bomber jackets in a slew of colors including dove gray.  For nails, this Paint & Peel Sula polish has revolutionized my home manicures – it doesn’t chip and when I tire of it, I simply peel it off in one tear – no nail polish remover!  Clutches with hardware are still super chic – zipper details are hot.  My love affair with Jeffrey Campbell shoes and boots continues they offer style and comfort at unbelievable price points.  Every woman needs an every day tote – this two toned bag is fab with chain and zipper details and for $58 will hold mags, shoes, and so much more.  Recently I’ve been browsing Modcloth.com and loving their selection of super stylish dresses for all occasions – I’m all over this tiered ruffled dress in steel gray, it’ll go with any accessory palette I have a whim for.  I worship the Express Editor pant, love the fit, this brown/gray plaid will be the perfect work meets fun pant and will go with a ton of top options.

I’ll freak out if I don’t have a perfect dark rinse skinny jean with a bit of spandex in the fabric blend for tucking into tall calf high and over the knee boots (boots post coming soon!)  This super embellished French Connection dress is a splurge for the season – the beading work is whimsical and retro.  I’m planning on wearing this early fall bare legs with skyscraper black platforms; later in the year, I’ll wear it with tights.  One of my favorite day looks is a sheath dress with an open cardigan and a funky wide belt – I heart this poof sleeve cardigan from Anthropologie with this Urban Outfitters tiger chain belt.  My favorite fall fabric plaid goes Mad Men – I’m wearing this now with peep toe pumps and later with knee high wedge boots.

Coming soon more on: skinny jeans, plaid, leopard print, shirt dresses, jackets, boots and accessories…

Fall’s here, and I’m shopping!

STEAL THIS STAR STYLE – SEX & the CITY 2, CARRIE BRADSHAW

Sex and the City 2Metallic Wristlet Clutch $8.99 at Charlotte Russe, Mirrored Aviator Sunglasses $30 and Hanging Heart Necklace $40 both at Topshop, Michael Antonio Women’s Frappuccino Pump $39.95 at Endless, Ainsley V Neck Organic Cotten Dress $100 on sale at EdunOnline.com.  Budget outfit = $218.94.

SJP is looking every inch the glamazon in this white v neck dress with disco gold touches, especially mirrored gold aviator sunglasses.  When baring your clavicles a statement necklace is a sassy touch.

I about peed myself when these pix made their way to my inbox this week, as I was unawares that that Sex & the City 2 had gone in to production.  According to IMDB.com, it’s slated for a release May 2010.  Guess I’ll keep my studded belt ala SATC1 in rotation until then!  The blue dress is not a terribly cutting edge look.  Then we’ve got this perm situation… one can only but assume that we’re dealing with a 1980s flashback situation.  There’s no other reason or era that Carrie Bradshaw should be running around NYC with a big poodle perm on her head.  Not a cute look.

Can’t wait for more looks Sex and the City.
